Lessons Learned From the Past
From the dotcom years to the new days of killer applications there seem to be lessons learned such as:
1. Cross sell and cross promotions. As mentioned some of the ads and companies we promote are not necessarily paid ads. Some are either philantropic, socially conscious and partnership branding. In the past, some of our competitors simply just followed what we were doing, some redirected our website traffics and some basically spread rumors. Yet, today the same breed are suffering from the culprits of their own doings. Today is a new world of helping each other than being supreme over another.
2. Affilate Marketing. For the record, the power of networks and affiliate marketing needs to be corrected towards getting rich ponzi schemes. Having affiliates takes a lot of hardwork and continuous improvement towards each others success. The role of corporate greed has given so much wrong information as the cost of doing affiliate marketing was always link to a sale conversion. Web metrics is a comprehensive discussion thread in affiliate marketing and branding today.
3. There are always mistakes to consider a long the way. The human hypocritic behavior of being supreme has been a wrong notion as seen over time. Even computers crash, hacked and inflicted with viruses. What needs to be understood is that we have to accept the responsbility and learn from the past mistakes.
4. Group Colloration and acknowledgment is a powerful tool in being and staying competitive in today's business environment. Gone are days of the industrial age that the supreme CEO is the only smart guy who has power. The more minds, the more inputs and feedbacks will give us more openness towards continuous improvement processes.
5. The power of persistence. Giving in to failure is almost similar to going into a business without a plan. The days of trial and errors or do this and do that is gone. With the new age of science take it from our experience, only after we documented and put out the written plan that we realized that there is true worth in perseverance and persistence.
As seen in the gloomy economic uncertainties of today's business climate, every entrepreneur has indeed been more creative and strategic than ever. With this comes our self fight towards our ego and maybe writing down the lessons learned from the past will be the ultimate competitive edge we have among others.
